Back to the Doctor we go

The kids and I headed back in to the Doctor this morning to have him check Keilyn's ears. She had double infections before Cayden's birthday and he wanted to see us again after we finished up the meds. Her right ear is looking better, not perfect but better. Her left ear is unchanged if not worse. He gave her the next stage in meds so hopefully that will clear it up, but he also has started the notation in her records that we are a "tube" family.

Poor Cayden had to wait so long and go through so many infections before they finally got him tubes. Kynlie I knew better so I started the discussion right away. Now lets just hope Keilyn will have better luck and get over this and not need the tubes. Ha Ha yea right.

Go Big Red!!

Afternoon!

We had a great Christmas this year! We got to see so much family, and eat and eat and eat! We were fortunate enough not to have the stomach flu like last year so that was a huge plus. We hosted Charlene's side of the family this year and I have to tell you they are a hoot! We love seeing everybody and visiting. I think we need to make that a quarterly thing, getting together and eating!

The kids made out like bandits again, we love all of you and hope you all had the best Christmas!

Christmas Eve!

The kids and I have spent the last three days baking stuff for christmas! I'm so excited for Christmas to get here and all the family to eat our goodies...that way I don't graze all week! The kids are super excited for Christmas, they are climbing the walls. Josh and Mike are down here, we haven't seen them yet but maybe later today. Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!

Birthday Pictures!

Here is the cake! Seriously I think Cheri outdid herself this time! I need to add that Cayden is not a Jets fan but a Brett Favre fan! He was crushed when he retired from the Packers so when he was signed by the Jets it was a pretty good day around our house.

Today Cayden turns 7! I can't believe my little boy is that old! It still seems like yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital. Time goes by so fast when you are having fun! His party is at 2 today so if you are in town stop by!

No School

There was no school today, our first snow day of the year! I love it, its like a free day. We bundled up the kids and realized that poor Kynlie is wearing size 3T snow pants. That didn't work out very well for her. We had to go to the doctor and get the kids their flu shots so we stopped at Walmart and got a new pair.

I also got the movie Muppet Christmas Carol! I love that movie.

Visitors!

Last night after the kids had gone to bed, Matt and I heard knocking. We look out the window and there are 4 college age girls standing at the door. I holler at Matt to go put a shirt on, and go see what they want...I was all ready in my red snowflake jammies.

He goes to the door and its our neighbors down the street and around the corner. They have grown quite attached to the kids so when they were making up Christmas goodies for their families they knew they had to bring the kids a plate.

When I told the kids about it they wanted to make them a thank you. We got out the construction paper, stickers, and markers and the kids made them a very cute thank you card. We took it over just a bit ago and yes the kids made themselves quite at home at their house finding all the kitties.

Mary Claire would like to have them over more often, I asked if she was drinking.

Update Thanks Jody

The kids are getting better. Thank goodness! Except the medicine that Cayden is on is affecting him in other ways so I had to keep him home today. I'm waiting for the doctor to call to see if we can get him something different. Keilyn didn't want to sleep Sunday night, she was up from 11-3, I'm thinking it was my own fault. I didn't give her a snack before I gave her her medicine so she got a nasty tummy ache.

All that besides we are doing great! Cayden is counting down till his birthday, he is so excited! I took him, Kynlie and two of his friends to the movie on Sunday, we saw Bolt 3-D! That was so cute, it held my attention too which was a plus! Keilyn stayed with grandma and grandpa for the first time by herself. She did wonderful! Thank you Jim and Charlene!

We are getting SNOW right now! It's beautiful! I love the snow...that's why I think we will love love love Alaska! TEEEHEEEEHEEEE!!!

Maybe we will have a white Christmas too, just as long as the roads are ok for Josh and Mike to come down. Josh is flying into Rapid tomorrow, I'm so excited to see him next week! The kids are standing on their heads with excitement!

Ok well I have to throw my printer out the window now...Have a great day and stay warm!

Sickies

When I picked up Cayden from school yesterday he told me his ear hurt. I thought good grief I'm so sick of sick kids! I called the doctors office and asked if they would see us. We got in right away and saw a really nice doctor, he checked the kids out and told me that Cayden has an ear infection in his left ear and Keilyn has an infection in both her ears.

I seriously couldn't believe it! But the good thing is we caught them early enough that the kids shouldn't get to bad.

So little update on us!

Homemade presents

How many of you make your own gifts for Christmas? This year I'm making the kids scarves and I have to tell ya its so much fun! I'm new at the whole crafty thing, ask Lisa she knows I'm a putz! I got Kynlie's done and it turned out really good I also did Keilyn's but I want to redo it, I'm just not to happy with it. I'm really excited to do Cayden's....its a sports theme!

Now I'm inspired to make more stuff for next year. Ok well easy stuff! I think Grandma would be proud of me and my sewing machine!

Another Storm Missed Us

Well another stinking winter storm missed us. I swear that happens all the time, weather man says 2-6 inches and we get a trace. Snow Dances don't work!

We are still battling this cold that we caught before Thanksgiving, Matt and Cayden just got it and Keilyn and Kynlie still have the sniffles. We are going to get through this though. I just know it!

Cayden has met with Platte 3 times now and he really seems to enjoy it. I'm just hoping Platte feels the same way! I came up from feeding the dogs last night to see them wrestling so it must be going pretty good!

Just about done Christmas shopping. Just need to hit a couple of more places to get the last of it. That just reminds me I was at Target yesterday and forgot to get something...DANGIT!!!

Have a great day and where ever you are if you are getting snow...you suck!

Cayden's Big News!

Cayden was selected by his peers to be a part of the Nebraska Human Resourses Institute. Now you may ask "what is that?" Don't worry I wondered the same exact thing!
Here is the link
http://www.nhri.org/

Nebraska Human Resources Institute (NHRI) is a leadership development program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where outstanding college leaders are paired with outstanding young leaders in Lincoln Public Schools. NHRI's objective is to discover individuals with exceptional capacity to positively influence others and develop their leadership capacity through one-to-one investment relationships. The outcome hoped for is that these leaders direct their developed leadership toward reinvestment in others.

Matt was in this program when he was in school, he was paired with Mark Gocke who we still have a relationship with. Matt was in Mark's wedding and Mark was in our wedding.

Mark summarized the program the best for us.

"By taking a student who shows leadership abilities and enhancing those abilities, he or she will in turn, show others how to become great leaders, as others will then follow his lead."

We met Cayden's mentor last night and we couldn't have been more thrilled. His name is Platte, he's from Omaha, and is studying pre-med. Cayden is super excited about this and can't wait for their first meeting.

Sick

Not much to update other than, the girls and I all have colds. Seriously I hate having a cold! No one is sleeping good, so I'm a bit crabby!

I'll update more later with some great news about Mr.Cayden! We just have to have the meeting first so I know what I'm talking about. And it truly is great news!

Our Saturday

Kynlie did such an amazing job at soccer yestereday! I am so proud of her, she has such great hustle plus she is the only one out there that has any concept of passing the ball. (I'm totally bragging right now) She saw when she was covered and passed it to her teammate, I couldn't believe it. I think she scored 6 goals, oh I'm so stinking proud of that child!

I do have something funny for all of you! Last night was the first time in my life that I've ever made puppy chow! Seriously, I've never done it before! I think I made myself a little sick eating so much of it though! The kids totally loved it plus they really liked helping me make it.

Sleep Over

Cayden and Kynlie had a sleep over with Grandma and Grandpa last night!! Charlene got Cayden from school and ran over picked up Jim then wizzed over here to get Kynlie then they trucked it down to the theater to see Madagascar II! Then they went to eat at one of the kids' favorite places Lee's Chicken where they had Mac&Cheese!

It is seriously so quiet here when they are gone, and I'm pretty sure Keilyn doesn't like it. She wanders around looking for them, so sad! But Cayden and Kynlie have so much fun it's great for them to do!

Well we have soccer today and I'm thinking of going to the fabric store to get some fleece to make the kids all scarves for Christmas. If anyone has a pattern they like to use please comment. I have an idea for the girls but Cayden I'm stumped on.

Have a great day and stay warm!

Recipe

Oreo Balls

  • 8 ounces softened cream cheese or whipped cream cheese
  • 18 ounces package of Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 2 cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon shortening

Mix cream cheese with electric mixer until fluffy. Add the crushed Oreos and beat on high until well mixed. Chill for at least 2 hours in the freezer. Then roll Oreo cookie mix into one inch Oreo Balls.

Next, melt the chocolate chips and shortening with a double boiler or in the microwave.Dip the Oreo balls completely into the melted chocolate using tongs or a toothpick.Put on wax paper. After the Oreo balls harden, keep them in the refrigerator.Makes about 3 or 4 dozen Oreo Balls, depending on the size

Soccer Was Great

Kynlie's winter soccer season started. She loves it! The new facility is awesome, it has the same turf that Memorial Stadium has, plus it's so warm in there! There is also enough room for Cayden to play on one end with the football so that is great!

I figured out what is giving Keilyn so many tummy troubles! It's cheese! Her little tummy just can't take the stuff. No more cheese for Keilyn! Otherwise she is doing great! Mischievous as every!

Cayden is doing great, he's been reading up a storm! I love that!

Have a great day everybody!

Busy Day Today

Hey guys busy day today, we have Kynlie's soccer this morning (she got in, we didn't think we would since I was late in sending in the application) she is very excited about it! I can't believe how much she loves it!
Then were are off to Jim and Charlene's to watch the game. GO BIG RED!!! The kids will get very tired over there so they will sleep very well tonight.

Then I have to come home and clean clean clean for the party tomorrow afternoon!

Little update on Keilyn: The toy has passed! If you didn't know Keilyn swallowed a toy on Monday afternoon after nearly choking on it. Well the doctor was worried and ordered x-rays, in seeing the x-ray it was discovered that Keilyn's little bowels were totally full! Little Milk of Magnesia and out came the toy and a whole lot more! Good News!!

Last Fall Soccer Game

Cayden has his last game yesterday. It was super cold at 9:00 AM so we bundled everybody up. Keilyn was so cold...poor thing.

Photobucket

Birds, Birds, Birds!!!
Photobucket
Daddy was a warm spot!
Photobucket

Here's Cayden, he's all bundled up! By the end of the game he'd shed the hat and gloves. He twisted his ankle during the game but kept playing, pretty proud of him for that.
Photobucket

Grandpa Jim gave him tickets to go the the Huskers after the soccer game so we had to hussle home so he could get changed for the game. No I didn't take any pictures and no Matt didn't take the camera to the game. He did tell me that Cayden ate a hot dog, a box of popcorn and an ice cream cone, and had a bottle of lemonade. No wonder he didn't eat supper last night! They had so much fun, Larry the Cable Guy was right in front of them but Cayden was a chicken and wouldn't go holler at him!

Here are a couple of pictures I took of Keilyn!

She likes to play with markers...check out her hand!

Funny story about Kynlie and Koda, this morning Koda must have done something wrong because Kynlie grabbed her by the collar, grabbed her bow and arrow walked out to the porch and said "Koda, say your prayers." I laughed so hard, I had to call Matt at work and tell him about that one!
